Level 2 Early Years Practitioner (Self-Funded)

This diploma and standard can be studied in a range of private and public settings including; full day care, children’s centres, pre-schools, reception classes, playgroups, nursery schools, home based provision, hospitals, social care settings, out of school environments and local authority provision.

The aim is to deliver the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) requirements set by government for the learning, development and care of children from birth to 7 years of age in both indoor and outdoor environments.

As an apprentice you will work and interact directly with children on a day to day basis supporting the planning of and delivery of activities, purposeful play opportunities and educational programs within the ethos of the setting.  You will work as part of a professional team ensuring the welfare and care for children under the guidance and supervision of Early Years Educators, mentors, deputy mangers and managers within your setting.

Course Information

  • To be able to gain a satisfactory Data Barring Service (DBS)
  • Learners will need to be working, volunteering or on practical placement to show competence in both knowledge and skills.
  • Learners need to demonstrate how they complete 250 placement hours whilst undertaking this qualification.
  • Placement opportunity must allow for sufficient skills application with babies and young children to meet the assessment criteria for the qualification.

This course will provide you with understanding in multiple areas of childcare including:

    • Early years development of children and young people in communication and personal development

    • How to develop a positive and caring environment for children and young people

    • Build and maintain a relationship with children and young people

    • Why health and well-being is important for babies and children

    • How to safeguard children

On successful completion, apprentices will be eligible for the following roles:
